Pepper Field Day – October 23

Florida continues to shine in the U.S. pepper production scene, even with the rising competition from imports. We cultivate a diverse range of peppers, from sweet bell peppers to specialty varieties like jalapeños and habaneros. Like many other vegetable crops, field peppers are grown on raised beds with plastic mulch and drip irrigation.

If you’ve ever grown peppers, you’re likely familiar with some of the major pests and diseases that can affect them. The two biggest culprits that come to mind are bacterial leaf spot and pepper weevil. But there’s so much more to learn about peppers! From breeding the best varieties to effective pest management and postharvest techniques, we’ve got a lot to share.
